There is also the Well of Joseph, 90 meters deep, which supplies the water for the whole of the Citadel. Within a few minutes drive from the down town Cairo.

Ibn Tulun Mosque

Near the Citadel. One of the largest mosques in the world and among the finest in Cairo. It was built between 876 and 879 and is decorated in a plain yet sophisticated style that achieves a powerful, simplistic beauty. Standing 40 meters high, a splendid view of Cairo can be seen from the minaret. Within a few minutes drive from the down town Cairo

Manzil Zeinab Khatoun

Manzil Zeinab Khatoun is one of the most remarkable houses left nowadays. Named after its last owner, as was the custom for Islamic houses in those days, it occupies a distinguished location at the back of Al-Azhar Mosque in " Atfet El-Azhary " (Azhary alley) in Darb Al-Ahmar district, once the finest and richest neighborhood of Islamic Cairo.

The Al-Aqmar Mosque In the heart of the Fatimid city, north of the site once occupied by the great Fatimid palace, stands a small but important mosque known as al-Aqmar, which means "The Moonlit", sometimes also known as the Gray Mosque. it was founded by Ma'mun al-Bata'ihi, during the caliphate of al-Mustansir. It was built during a time of great political and spiritual crises for the Fatimid regime. It is located on the main artery of the city. In plan, it is a regular, rectangular hypostyle mosque with a square courtyard. It is essentially the plan of a small congregational mosque.

Gates to the Ancient City of Cairo

A few of the beautiful ancient gates in Cairo, Egypt receive considerable attention, but there are many more that deserve some attention. El Fostat city was big and important due to plenty of buildings, many people and much of livelihood means, that is why Gawhar El Sakaly was so keen on it. He established the fortified gates (bab) and installed them around it in the four-sided wall. He built El Kantara at Bab El Shairia Street.
